Good afternoon,

My name is Steve Dorman and I will be your child's coach for U5 tot soccer. My daughter, Sonia, will be playing for the first time, but I have coached once before for our oldest daughter and our middle daughter also played in the U5 program. 

We're looking forward to getting out there next weekend to introduce your kids to the basics of soccer. All of our practices and games will be on Saturday morning at Liberty Elementary (see schedule below). If you've never been, it's a sizeable park with a lot of fields. I'd recommed arriving early enough to find parking and get to the field 10 minutes prior to the start of practice.  

The way it works for tot soccer is that we'll be sharing a field with another team, practicing separately for 30 minutes, then playing a game for 30 minutes. I'll plan to have the ball on your child's foot early and often and will set up activities to be as fun as possible. I do want to help manage expectations though - my goal for game play is to get the kids to kick the ball in the right direction. That may not sound like much but at this age, the interest level can vary greatly. Some kids will be happy just being out on the field talking to friends, watching butterflies and picking flowers. Other kids will take the ball and run. I don't know which one my very chatty child will be, so my promise to you is that I will be patient with your child any which way the wind blows.        

Please note that with covid rules it is recommended that only immediate family members attend so that we can provide enough space for social distancing on the sidelines. In non-pandemic times, the fields get crowded. Spectators are expected to wear a mask unless they are medically unable. We're all in the same storm but sailing in different boats, so please be aware that everyone's risk tolerance is different.

Your child will need to bring a mask with them and wear it on the sidelines, but not when on the field. If one of you is willing to help as assitant sideline coach, it would be greatly appreciated. Please reach out to me if you are willing to serve in that role.
